Custodian

About the Role

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all assigned areas, ensuring a safe and healthy environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform janitorial duties as listed on the daily schedule
• Handle Hazardous Waste responsibilities, including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging of special and hazardous waste
• Operate motorized cleaning equipment
• Maintain daily upkeep of assigned area
• Report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor
• Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures
• Stop at-risk behavior of others and self
• Perform work assignments in a team with other employees
• Perform repetitive tasks and maintain a clean work area
• Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules
• Take direction and respond to supervision
• Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, co-workers, managers, and customers
• Fill in during staff shortages and support shift lead in completing punch-list items
• Use proper personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Maintain a professional appearance and conduct
• Understand customer service and satisfaction, reporting systems, and environmental protocols

Requirements

• 3–6 months of training or experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Valid driver’s license may be required
• Completion of all safety and task training certification
• Forklift certification may be required
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use
• Knowledge of the upkeep and care of cleaning equipment
• Bilingual skills are a plus

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to sit, talk, or listen
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds

Pay

$18.20 per hour

Schedule

• Monday–Friday: 4:30 PM – 1:00 AM
• Sunday–Thursday: 7:00 PM – 3:30 AM
