Custodian

About the Role

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all assigned areas, ensuring a safe and professional environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform janitorial duties
• Complete all tasks listed on the daily schedule
• Manage Hazardous Waste responsibilities, including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping, receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging of special and hazardous waste
• Operate motorized cleaning equipment
• Maintain daily upkeep of assigned areas
• Report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor
• Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures
• Address at-risk behavior of others and self
• Work collaboratively in a team with other employees
• Perform repetitive tasks
• Maintain a clean work area
• Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules
• Take direction and respond to supervision
• Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, co-workers, managers, and customers
• Fill in during staff shortages
• Support shift lead in completing punch-list items
• Use proper personal protective equipment
• Present a professional appearance and conduct
• Understand customer service and satisfaction
• Understand reporting systems and environmental considerations

Qualifications

• No specific education requirement; 3-6 months of training or experience preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• May require a valid driver’s license
• Completed safety and task training certification
• May require forklift certification
• Bilingual a plus
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and upkeep
• Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use

Physical Demands & Work Environment

The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. The role frequently requires sitting, talking, and listening. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM

Pay

$18 - $19 per hour
