Custodian

About the role

Perform janitorial duties and all duties listed on the daily schedule. Collect, classify, sort, store, ship, receive, label, clean, recycle, and package special and hazardous waste. Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain daily upkeep of assigned area.

Responsibilities

• Report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor
• Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures
• Stop at-risk behavior of others and self
• Perform work assignments in a team with other employees
• Perform repetitive tasks and maintain clean work area
• Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules
• Take direction and respond to supervision
• Communicate professionally with lead, supervisor, co-workers, managers, and customers
• Fill in during staff shortages
• Support shift lead in completing punch-list items
• Use proper personal protective equipment
• Present a professional appearance and conduct
• Understand customer service and satisfaction
• Understand reporting systems and the environment

Requirements

• No specific education requirement; 3–6 months training or experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• May be required to have a valid driver’s license
• Must complete all safety and task training certification
• May be required to be forklift certified

Skills

• Bilingual ability a plus
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment and willingness to share with the team
• Knowledge of the upkeep and care of cleaning equipment
• Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Frequently required to sit and talk or listen. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Schedule

Monday–Friday: 5 pm–9 pm or 6 pm–10 pm

Pay

$16.00–$17.00 per hour
