About the role

Under close supervision, the Custodian performs general custodial duties to ensure areas are clean and free of safety hazards. This role supports PRIDE Industries' mission to create jobs for people with disabilities while delivering high-quality, value-added solutions to nationwide customers.

Responsibilities

• Clean, dust, and wipe furniture.
• Sweep, mop, or vacuum floors.
• Empty and clean wastebaskets, trash containers, and cigarette urns.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedures. Refill restroom dispensers.
• Assist with the setup for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
• Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Use as directed.
• Wash accessible interior and exterior windows. Clean blinds.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to utilize a wide array of custodial chemicals and general cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to safely operate custodial equipment (vacuum, backpack vacuum, cardboard bailer).
• Ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions.
• Computer literacy to use business software, the Internet, and enter/retrieve data.
• Human relations skills to build effective working relationships.

Physical Requirements

Employees must be able to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance:

• Maneuvering in and around the worksite.
• Standing and walking.
• Bending, kneeling, reaching, and stooping.
• Lifting boxes or equipment weighing up to 35 pounds (up to 50 pounds occasionally).
• Pushing or pulling objects such as vacuums, carts, and mops (may include equipment weighing up to 70 pounds).
• Grasping both small and large objects.
• Climbing ladders and/or step stools.

Work Environment

Work is performed in an office environment or at a customer’s location, such as a commissary, federal courthouse, or military base. Employees may be exposed to:

• Toxic chemicals.
• Noise from equipment in a maintenance environment.
• Indoor and outdoor conditions, including exposure to cold or heat.

Pay

$23.00 per hour
