Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety and security of residents, staff and visitors.
• Perform assigned/scheduled janitorial duties.
• Maintain program and facility safety: remove garbage from each floor at start and end of shift, transport cans to compactors and recycling bins, bring larger containers to the street periodically.
• Clean common area floors (vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, waxing as needed).
• Clean and sanitize lavatories and wash basins, clean mirrors, walls, and washroom floors.
• Complete pre‑approved maintenance items as requested.
• Report maintenance problems or issues identified during building rounds to the Facility Manager in a timely manner.
• Maintain inventory of supplies needed to perform duties.
• Perform monthly inspections as requested.
• Respond to residents’ concerns and provide assistance as indicated.

Qualifications

• Formal education not required.
• Preferred: High School Diploma or GED.
• Preferred: Experience in janitorial/custodial work.
• Preferred: One‑year experience in human services, preferably working with homeless adults, the economically disadvantaged, individuals with mental health disorders or chemical dependency.

Skills

• Intermediate level of computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification (or obtainable within two months of hire).

Pay

New hires typically start between $21.50 and $25.80 per hour, depending on location, experience, qualifications, skills, competencies, internal equity, and market conditions.

Schedule

Part‑time, Thursday through Sunday, 6:00 PM – 11:00 PM.
