About the Role

Under direct supervision, this position performs custodial services for the College at assigned locations. Responsibilities include cleaning and minor maintenance of buildings externally and internally. Your work ensures a safe, comfortable environment while supporting events, assisting others, and keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cleaning duties such as sweeping, cleaning of windows and light fixtures; mopping; vacuuming; emptying trash; wiping white boards; dusting and wiping desks, window sills, and baseboards.
  • Clean classrooms, offices, hallways, stairwells, entrance areas, public areas; clean and sanitize restrooms and café areas.
  • Use a bucket truck to clean higher windows and make minor repairs.
  • Scrub, wax, and buff floors; clean and shampoo carpets.
  • Check and replenish paper and supplies.
  • Promote a safe work environment.
  • Move and rearrange furniture; set up banquet tables; and clean up after events.
  • Pick up trash; deliver garbage bags to dumpsters.
  • Politely and helpfully assist faculty and students with directions and general campus or classroom information.
  • Complete all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree preferred).
  • One (1) year of related work experience performing general cleaning tasks; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license.
  • Pass training in Bloodborne pathogens, CPR, and Bleeding Control Basics.
  • Proven work experience and the ability to perform general cleaning tasks competently, thoroughly, and efficiently.
  • Proven knowledge in general custodial responsibilities including the ability to utilize various cleaning materials and equipment in a safe, proper, and efficient manner.
  • Proven ability to use custodial equipment such as vacuum cleaners, floor buffers and scrubbers, mops, and other cleaning devices while promoting a safe work and learning environment.
  • Ability to work positively, cooperatively, and supportively as a member of a custodial team.
  • Ability to interact pleasantly, professionally, diplomatically, and positively with co-workers, faculty, staff, and students in a professional academic setting.
  • Computer literate and possess the ability to understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to take direction from supervisors, accept constructive criticism with a positive attitude, and respond positively to changes in daily or building assignments.
  • Flexibility with respect to daily assignments; ability to be a self-starter and work with minimal supervision.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment and walk, bend, and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Lifting, reaching, stooping, climbing stairs and ladders, handling powered custodial equipment, and carrying items occasionally in excess of 50 pounds.
  • Good physical condition to perform the type of work required.
  • Knowledge, experience, and manual dexterity to operate standard custodial machines such as buffers, floor polishers, and extractors.
  • Adherence to proper safety standards while employed by the College.

Pay

Pay range starts at: $15.76/hour. All salary calculations start at the minimum salary and will be based on candidate's education and experience.
