Custodian

About the role

This position ensures County buildings and grounds are maintained to a high level of cleanliness and functionality through a full range of custodial tasks and duties covering offices, entrances, hallways, restrooms, parking lots, and other areas belonging to Gila County, as well as County materials, equipment, and supplies.

Responsibilities

• Perform general custodial functions including cleaning offices, Board of Supervisors Hearing Room, courtrooms, entrances, hallways, restrooms, kitchens, and other areas in and around County facilities.
• Conduct custodial tasks such as mopping, vacuuming, power washing, dusting, buffing and waxing floors, emptying trash, window washing, shoveling snow, and stocking restrooms.
• Comply with departmental procedures and safety regulations.
• Ensure proper handling and disposal of health and safety hazard wastes.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of cleaning chemicals and their proper applications to ensure compliance with County Health Department safety regulations.
• Monitor and document the need for minor repairs of lights, tables, faucets, drains, and other equipment; complete required custodial reports and documentation.
• Conduct special projects and assist with recycling activities as required.
• Coordinate and maintain custodial supply inventories.
• Change light bulbs, assemble furniture, assist with painting and minor maintenance, and perform dish washing as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
