About the role

The Clark County Department of Real Property Management is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Custodian position. This position performs standard custodial and cleaning duties in County buildings, facilities, and adjacent grounds. The position also interacts with the public and provides standard information when cleaning public facilities during an assigned shift. This position may work at all facilities across Clark County which could include detention facilities, court facilities, coroner's office and morgue and campus locations. This position could also be subject to shift work that includes nights, evenings, and weekends. THIS RECRUITMENT IS LIMITED TO THE FIRST 250 APPLICATIONS RECEIVED AND WILL CLOSE WITHOUT NOTICE ONCE THAT NUMBER IS REACHED. This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources. Responsibilities

• Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and polishes floors; sweeps, vacuums and spot clean carpeted areas.
• Dusts and polishes furniture and woodwork; dusts counters, windowsills, window blinds and similar fixtures.
• Empties, cleans and lines waste receptacles and disposes of trash.
• Washes doors, windows, walls, ceilings, window blinds and furniture; polishes metalwork.
• Cleans and disinfects restrooms; restocks restroom supplies as necessary.
• Cleans lighting fixtures and reports the need for bulb or tube replacement.
• Strips, seals and buffs floors.
• Closes windows, turns off lights, and locks doors to secure buildings.
• Reports the need for maintenance or repair of facilities to the appropriate supervisor; corrects or reports any fire or safety hazards and places barriers in public areas.
• Maintains equipment, materials and supplies in proper condition.
• Observes safe working practices, including maintaining storage areas in a safe condition.
• Follows label instructions to mix and dilute cleansers, disinfectants and stripping agents to ensure proper strength for use.
