About the role
Spokane Valley is seeking a full-time Custodian in its Facilities Maintenance department. Working hours are Monday through Friday from 4:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
Select examples of duties
- Clean and disinfect kitchen and restrooms, including toilets and sinks.
- Restocking supplies like soap, paper towels, toilet paper and other sanitary supplies.
- Sweep, mop and vacuum floors throughout common areas, hallways, stairwells, and offices.
- Dust surfaces, clean windows and sanitize high touch areas.
- Empty trash and recycling bins and dispose of waste properly according to facility protocols.
- Operate a variety of tools, equipment and machines including small hand tools typically used in janitorial work.
- Monitor cleaning supply levels, paper products and equipment submitting supply orders as needed.
- Inspect the facility for safety hazards and report any repair needs to management.
- Other duties as assigned.
Desired minimum qualifications
- Education and Experience: Graduation from High School or GED and two years of custodial experience.
- Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of the requirements for maintaining buildings in a safe, clean and orderly condition; Knowledge of safety policies and procedures including proper methods for storing equipment, materials and supplies; Skilled in proper cleaning techniques, ability to perform light manual tasks for extended periods of time; ability to work safely; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public; ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions; Requires superior customer service and interpersonal relationship skills.
Special requirements
- Must possess a valid State driver's license or have the ability to obtain one prior to employment.
- Successful completion of a background check, including a criminal check, and pre-employment physical are requirements of employment in this position at the City of Spokane Valley.
Pay
Anticipated hiring range is in Grade 10 and will be $21.67 - $32.80 per hour.
