Custodian
About the role
The City of Auburn seeks a custodial and minor repair maintenance worker to perform routine duties and tasks independently, deal tactfully with the public, and maintain City facilities and buildings.
Responsibilities
- Performs assigned duties and tasks independently as scheduled or directed to established cleaning methods and standards without direct supervision
- Deals tactfully and courteously with the public, coworkers, and other City employees, occasionally in difficult customer service situations
- Cleans, disinfects and deodorizes restroom floors, toilets, urinals, walls, partitions, mirrors, fixtures and showers; deodorizes floor drains as required; checks and refills all soap, paper towel and toilet paper dispensers and restocks supplies
- Vacuums carpets in meeting rooms, offices, hallways and council chambers
- Spot cleans where necessary
- Shampoos carpets according to maintenance schedule. Vacuums upholstered furniture as required
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or equivalent
- One (1) year of professional custodial work
- A valid driver's license without impending loss at time of appointment
Qualifications
- Must be able to pass a background check, to include reference checks
- This position will be required to be fingerprinted and complete the CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Services) Security Certification Test to be allowed to view sensitive information and have unescorted access while at the Police Department (per Washington State Patrol ACCESS unit)

Pay
Minimum pay rate is $4829.58/month (~$27.86/hour), with the maximum pay rate including highest longevity pay, applicable only after 20 years of service.
Schedule
The regular work schedule for this position is: Monday- Friday 4:30 pm - 1:00 am.
