Responsibilities

  • Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes, and burnishes floors, as well as vacuums and shampoos carpets as applicable;
  • Cleans, sanitizes, and stocks restrooms;
  • Cleans and dusts all horizontal and vertical surfaces as assigned;
  • Removes and disposes of waste products daily;
  • Maintains clean custodial closets.

Responsibilities

  • Performs minor non-cleaning maintenance tasks of facility (e.g., changes light bulbs, changes toilet seats, unclogs toilets, changes ceiling tiles, touches up paint, secures windows, delivers supplies, sets up for facility activities/meetings/conferences, assembles and moves furniture).

Requirements

  • Follows a lawn and facility maintenance program, including, but not limited to: mowing (pushing and/or riding), weeding, weed-eating, edging, trimming, fertilizing, minor plant replacement, mulching, blowing off sidewalks/curbs, watering, pressure washing, and graffiti removal, as appropriate.
  • Opens, closes, and secures facility, including gates, doors, windows, and alarm systems.
  • Turns on and off all lights, making sure that grounds and facilities are free of debris and hazards.
  • Responds to emergencies by securing the perimeter.
  • Performs work duties independently and/or as part of a custodial crew depending upon the nature of the task, works cooperatively in group situations, exhibits tact and consideration, displays a positive outlook and pleasant manner, offers assistance and support to co-workers, and works actively to resolve conflicts.
  • Assumes modified duties and responsibilities of the Head Custodian or Custodial Crew Leader in the event of absence or vacancy and by same and other duties as assigned.

  • Basic comprehensive skills of the working English language.
  • Add and subtract two digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
  • Reads and comprehends simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Writes simple correspondence.
  • Effectively presents information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Applies common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions.
  • Deals with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Reports potentially unsafe conditions.
