Custodian 3pm-11pm
About the role
The Custodian contributes to the effective operation of the Operations Services Department within the Halifax Regional Centre for Education, maintaining a clean, sanitary and attractive appearance of school buildings and facilities. Duties are performed in a professional, efficient, proactive and safe manner within the policies and procedures of the Department and the Centre. This position reports to the Caretaker and also takes direction from the Building Management Supervisor. The Custodian position falls under the NSUPE collective agreement.
Responsibilities
- Perform a full range of cleaning and janitorial duties
- Work all shift schedules including day, evening and nights
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or academic equivalent through educational programs such as a General Educational Development (GED)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs to perform cleaning and janitorial duties
- Basic computer skills
- Previous janitorial experience an asset
Subject to operational requirements, the Halifax Regional Centre for Education may, at its discretion, alter the posted hours of work to accommodate an applicant’s request to hold two or more part-time positions at the same time.
Employment is contingent upon providing a satisfactory Criminal Records Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Abuse Registry Search.
