Custodian 2nd Shift Grade 1 - Split

Split assignment between Ledge Street Elementary School and Sunset Heights Elementary School. All Grade 1 Custodians hired on or after 11/01/2019 are designated “District Wide” per Union Agreement.

Schedule

Year-round, Monday through Friday, 2:30 PM to 10:30 PM.

Pay

$22.04 per hour after a 90-day probationary period; during probation the rate is $2.00 less per hour.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• One year’s experience in janitorial routines.
• Physical ability to:
  • walk, bend, and stand for long periods;
  • climb stairs and ladders;
  • crawl in confined spaces;
  • shovel;
  • work at heights of 15–20 feet;
  • lift and carry objects up to 100 lbs with assistance;
  • operate cleaning, snow-removal, lawn-care equipment, and construction/maintenance adhesives.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Custodian in maintaining the school building and grounds in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
• Sweep and mop floors in assigned areas; wash windows and glass partitions; change light bulbs as needed.
• Assist with moving furniture and equipment; perform minor emergency repairs.
• Maintain and operate all required janitorial equipment.
• Aid in emergency cleanups; report observed problems such as vandalism.
• Assist with snow removal near building entrances when required.
• Assist in daily cafeteria operations.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Head Custodian or Plant Operations Supervisor.
