Custodial Work Supervisor

About the role

This position leads custodial and laundry operations that support a clean and safe environment for the Southeastern Veterans' Center. The Custodial Work Supervisor oversees staff, maintains supplies, and ensures all work meets required standards for safety and sanitation, helping create spaces that honor the dignity and comfort of residents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assign tasks, oversee custodial and laundry work, and adjust schedules as needed.
• Ensure staff follow federal and state cleaning rules, safety practices, and proper handling of materials.
• Provide instruction, conduct meetings, and encourage positive working relationships.
• Review completed work and identify needed corrections or improvements.
• Maintain records, requisition supplies, and ensure adequate linen and equipment.
• Participate in hiring, performance reviews, leave approval, and discipline.

Qualifications

• Minimum: One year as a Custodial Worker 2 (or equivalent) **or** two years of experience performing custodial work.
• Ability to perform essential job functions.
• Preferred: Experience as a custodian, janitor, or cleaning person in an assisted‑living facility, nursing home, or hospital, including cleaning restrooms, resident rooms, offices, or public areas and tasks such as mopping, scrubbing, dusting, sweeping, or buffing.
• Legal: Conditional offer requires a medical examination and satisfactory criminal‑history reports (PA State Police and FBI clearance) under the Older Adult Protective Services Act.

Schedule

• Full‑time, 7.5 hours per day, 37.5 hours per week.
• 1st shift: 6:30 AM – 2:30 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
• May be required to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• No telework option.
