About the role

To assist in the maintenance of Agency facilities through the efficient and effective application of custodial maintenance procedures, in accordance with the desired Agency image. To ensure efficient and cost-effective operations and stewardship of the GGC and security of corporate assets.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain facilities in a neat and clean appearance.
  • Ensure and provide open and honest communication that encourages all team members to avoid placing themselves, donors, or customers in harm’s way.
  • Communicate and support Goodwill’s drug-free workplace, striving for and maintaining a positive work environment following Goodwill’s Core Values and Guiding Principles.
  • Understand and represent Goodwill’s zero tolerance for harassment, substance abuse, workplace violence, failure to report medical incidents (work or non-work related), and theft or other related offenses.
  • Complete custodial maintenance activities in a timely manner and in accordance with the housekeeping checklist, including:
    • Vacuum carpets, sweep, and mop floors.
    • Sweep sidewalks and empty trash containers, replacing liners.
    • Pick up trash on GGC grounds.
    • Dust fixtures, doorjambs, doors, tables, and office furniture.
    • Clean and wash dressing room and restroom mirrors.
    • Sanitize restroom toilets and sinks.
    • Replenish restroom paper supplies and soap dispensers.
    • Clean and wash GGC doors and windows.
    • Maintain break room in a clean and sanitary manner (e.g., tables, refrigerator, floor, cups, coffee makers).
  • Train and supervise trainees on the performance of custodial duties.
  • Perform custodial maintenance work using sound safety practices (e.g., lifting, use of equipment, floor signs) and report accidents to the Team Leader in a timely manner, in accordance with Agency safety procedures.
  • Operate custodial equipment for cleaning floors and carpets.
  • Perform daily routine maintenance checks on equipment and report damaged or non-working equipment to the Team Leader in a timely manner.
  • Support team and location needs, including additional sales floor tasks as assigned.
  • Provide customer service by being friendly, smiling, assisting, suggesting, and greeting within 10 seconds.
  • Demonstrate active listening and clear communication.
  • Maintain a can-do attitude, high integrity, and a neat, welcoming appearance.
  • Attend in-service and related training as assigned by the Team Leader.
  • Participate in activities outside of Goodwill as requested.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Team Leader.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
  • Knowledge of custodial floor and carpet cleaning techniques and procedures.
  • Familiarity with custodial equipment and supplies, including associated hazards.
  • Able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with Team Leader, Team Members, Customers, and Clients.
  • Able to supervise and train people.
  • Able to read cleaning supply directions and chemical mixtures.
  • Able to maintain a positive, friendly attitude and a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.
  • Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to stand, bend, and reach.
  • Able to lift, push, pull, carry, or otherwise move up to twenty-five (25) pounds with no support regularly; over twenty-five (25) pounds requires assistance from another team member.
  • Able to perform tasks that require repetitive motion.
  • Manual dexterity is required.

  • Safety – GGC Safety metric score.
  • Attendance – Works schedule as assigned, notifies leadership as needed with no recurring issues.
  • Quality of Work – Attitude, sense of urgency, productivity, individual safety performance.
  • Customer Service – 10-second rule for internal and external customers, smile, integrity of process, and feedback.
  • Transaction Value (Location vs. LY).
  • Donor Value (Location vs. goal).
  • Image – Personal image, keeps work area/location clean, safe, and organized.
  • Work Integrity – Follows established procedures and processes for donations in a timely manner with a sense of urgency.
