Custodial Staff

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain building appearance and cleanliness in all areas
• Lobbies, entrances, classrooms, offices, hallways, kitchens, conference rooms, staircases, study lounges
• Restrooms, and shower rooms
• Unlock/lock building and turn on/off lights
• Sweep
• Mop
• Vacuum
• Empty trash receptacles and dispose of trash
• Clean glass
• Dust surface areas
• Disinfect fixtures
• Annual deep cleaning
• Auxiliary duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and organization to other team members in your building
• May be asked to direct student and support student workers

Education, Experience, and Skills

• High School diploma and/or equivalent preferred but not required
• Must be detail oriented and have good time management and organizational skills
• Basic computer knowledge and operation
• Proven ability to work with others
• Must be able to read sufficiently to follow instructions
• Ability to mix appropriate chemical dilution ratio and understand directions for use
• Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and friends of the college

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
• Must have a full range of motion including bending, stretching, lifting, and kneeling
• Be available for scheduled shift
• Overtime may be required
• Inside and outside of buildings, spaces may or may not be air conditioned
• Exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals, noise, dust and fumes
• Buildings and grounds are smoke free
