Custodial Services Trainee (State Building)
Peckham is a nonprofit vocational rehabilitation organization specializing in providing vocational rehabilitation and training opportunities for people with significant disabilities and/or other barriers to employment. About the role
The Custodial Services Trainee duties involve general custodial tasks including cleaning of restrooms, public areas, classrooms, offices, and conference rooms. The ideal candidate is flexible, diligent, and a good communicator, who can receive feedback and resolve basic issues with the support of an on-site Supervisor or Crew Leader. Attending New Hire Orientation and receiving in-person training is required before being placed at a site. Placement site can change at any time based on contract requirements or the needs of the line of business.
Responsibilities
- Stocking storage closets and custodial carts.
- Routine cleaning of restrooms and occupied offices.
- Periodic cleaning of vents.
- Maintain grounds, including snow removal.
- Routine vacuuming of carpeting and matting.
- Routine dust and wet mopping of tile areas.
- Periodic dusting of all horizontal ledges.
- Perform daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
- Produce quality work in an ever-changing environment.
- Maintain excellent customer service standards at all times.
- Practice proper security, safety, and ergonomic standards at building sites.
- Utilize a teamwork approach for all projects.
- Promote Peckham’s vision, values and services to all customers and stakeholders.
- Complete New Hire Orientation and related certifications.
- Receive and implement constructive feedback in a professional manner.
- Accept other related jobs/duties as assigned and training as needed.
Requirements
- 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to read and/or interpret written or pictorial documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, schedules, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to communicate verbally, gesturally, or through written means.
- Low Beginning English (Reading 184-196 / Listening 182-191). Spoken English is not a requirement for this position, but a translator must be present to assist the employee during the 5-day New Hire Orientation.
- Must pass and maintain background checks.
- Meet minimum physical requirements of the position (see Physical Demands).
- Able to commit to a regular schedule.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from worksite.

Pay
$15 an hour
Schedule
10am-2pm, Monday through Friday
