Custodial Engineer - Grade LX - 1.0 FTE at Washington High School
About the role
The Sioux Falls School District seeks to hire a Custodial Engineer who can contribute to creating a safe and healthy learning environment for students. With a diverse student population of over 25,000, the district values cultural diversity and inclusive educational practices.
Responsibilities
- Performs corrective and preventive maintenance on various systems and equipment within buildings.
- Assumes custodial coordination responsibilities in the absence of the Building Custodial Manager and Night Supervisor.
- Provides miscellaneous maintenance services, including replacing light bulbs, removing graffiti, and delivering supplies.
- Maintains assigned vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Responds to building emergencies as needed.
- Shares responsibility for holiday, extended day, and weekend activities.
- Makes recommendations for supplies and equipment to the Building Custodial Manager.
- Works a revised schedule and substitutes for other custodial staff when necessary.
Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma
- Experience: Minimum of 24 months of plumbing and/or HVAC experience, or a combination of relevant coursework and experience.
- Physical Requirements: Good physical health, including ability to lift 75 pounds, climb to high places, and work at those places. Requires constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination, standing, walking, bending, crouching, hearing, lifting, pushing, stooping, carrying, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
- Other Requirements: Ability to pass written and hands-on job knowledge/job skill tests, advanced boiler training and experience, ability to work unsupervised, current State Vehicle operator's license, ability to operate all district fleet vehicles safely, good attendance, ability to communicate and follow direction, ability to recognize equipment malfunctions, positive attitude towards coworkers, willingness to accept instructions and training, subject to call beyond regular work hours for emergencies.

Skills
- Good physical health and manual dexterity.

- Knowledge of building maintenance and repair procedures.

Benefits

Pay

Schedule
Monday through Friday, 5:00 am to 1:30 pm with a 30-minute unpaid break. 1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week, 12 months.
