About the role

The Quad Preparatory School is seeking a Custodial Engineer to maintain the cleanliness, appearance, and safety standards of the school. Key responsibilities include ensuring facilities are clean and safe, performing maintenance tasks, assisting with setup for events, responding to maintenance requests, handling deliveries, keeping inventory, and carrying out minor repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure cleanliness, tidiness, and safety of all school facilities, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and outdoor areas.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as repairing furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Aid in setting up for school events, meetings, and activities.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff.
  • Handle deliveries and shipments, ensuring proper distribution.
  • Keep an inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, school supplies, and inform administration of restocking needs.
  • Carry out minor repairs on plumbing, electrical systems where appropriate and as needed.
  • Work closely with the team to plan and execute larger maintenance projects over breaks and summer.
  • Complete daily walkthroughs to ensure the facility does not have any hazards or damaged equipment/furniture.
  • Replace lightbulbs throughout the campuses as needed.
  • Maintain a stocked tool box with all standard bolts/screws needed for furniture and equipment.
  • Fix holes in walls with plaster/sheetrock.
  • Sand, prime, and paint furniture as needed.
  • Procure, and install small equipment such as cabinet locks, door sweeps, paper towel dispensers, etc.
  • Let management know when supplies are low.
  • Support lunch and evening event coverage at the security desk as needed.
  • Receive and distribute all packages that arrive.
  • Assist in sending out mail (package when requested, deliver to post office).
  • Work with third parties to ensure HVAC is running properly.
  • May be asked to research third party vendors for emergency maintenance, summer projects, and other projects during breaks.
  • Receive and inspect detailed estimates, quotes, and invoices to ensure they are within budget and are quoted as tax exempt.

Requirements

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Crisis prevention and intervention training
  • Security License - Candidates who do not already have a security license will be asked to complete a course upon hire.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in custodial or maintenance work.
  • Ability to lift and move items above or around 100 pounds.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic maintenance procedures and tools.

Pay

Annual Salary Range: $40,000 - $55,000

Schedule

This is a full-time non-exempt position in an educational facility which is open eight hours a day. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required. In general, though, hours are Monday-Friday 8am - 4pm.
