Custodial Cleaner and Supervisor

Job Summary

We’re looking to hire a hard-working Janitor with significant experience who can maintain the cleanliness and safety of our building and handle management tasks/supervising staff. You’ll be responsible for all cleaning duties including dusting, disinfecting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, cleaning restrooms, offices, kitchen areas, hallways, entry ways, emptying trash and more. The ideal candidate has a great work ethic, has experience managing others in a similar capacity, has a flexible schedule and experience with cleaning equipment and supplies, and takes pride in a job well done. The ideal candidate works very well with people and knows how to work alongside them as well as motivate them.

Responsibilities

• Pick up dirty laundry and take to the laundromat
• Deliver clean laundry/supplies to buildings
• Check buildings after they've been cleaned
• Train new staff
• Meet with clients
• Pick up shifts when necessary/assigned
• Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the building
• Vacuum carpets, mop floors, scrub restrooms, dust furniture, and empty trash cans daily
• Clean windows, supply restrooms, report issues, request supplies
• Wipe up spills and other hazards with sponges and squeegees
• Secure the building by locking doors once cleaning is complete
• Write reports of areas cleaned and notify the manager of major repairs
• Autoscrubbing
• Fill-in for staff in case of call-offs

Qualifications

• Educational requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent
• At least 6 years of experience in janitorial services
• Driver’s license or reliable transportation to and from the worksite
• Experience with a variety of cleaning supplies and cleaning equipment
• Excellent stamina and physical health
• Must be a hard worker with high attention to detail and have a strong work ethic
• Ability to pass a background check

Our Story

Indy Fiber and Surface Cleaning was started in 2016 by a husband-and-wife team out of Indianapolis, IN, hence the name Indy Fiber and Surface Cleaning. Mayrena King is the controlling and managing partner with over 10 years of experience in management, sales, and marketing, interestingly enough, in the field of IT. Mr. King possesses a law enforcement background and both owners possess master’s degrees. The husband-and-wife team has always had a desire to own their own business and after much research and thought, they decided to build a janitorial and flooring services company. Mayrena King’s background of management in the field of IT and her experience with clients that are highly dependent upon their technical systems, has allowed Mayrena to truly understand how to handle, take care of, and satisfy a client within a complex industry. Mayrena has found these skills to be highly transferable in the janitorial field. In 2016, an opportunity presented itself and Indy Fiber and Surface Cleaning moved to the Northwest Indiana area.
