About the role

Azusa Solutions is seeking a Curam Solution Architect II to join our team of talented consultants. This position supports IT systems for the New York City Department of Social Services (DSS)/Information Technology Services (ITS). ITS serves all DSS program areas to fulfill their IT needs. The role involves database design, architecture, development, and ensuring data accuracy, security, and integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical architecture designs for CURAM applications.
  • Oversee analysis, design, development, implementation, and testing of web‑based applications and middleware using Java/J2EE technologies.
  • Develop and maintain CURAM V7 solutions, including Rules framework, evidence brokering, IEG, UIM, façade layer, and modeling.
  • Apply software development life‑cycle and Agile/Iterative methodologies.
  • Implement PCI standards and Java security packages, including encryption/decryption, SSL, and TLS.
  • Develop Java applications using J2EE components such as Web Services, JAXB, EJB 3.0, JNDI, JSF, JMS, JPA, JSP, JSTL, JavaFX, and Servlets.
  • Utilize frameworks and technologies like Struts Tiles, OSGi, JBI, Apache Camel, Apache ActiveMQ, Struts 1.x, Hibernate Validator, Spring MVC, Spring Core, Spring Batch, and Spring Boot.
  • Work with web application components including Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, jQuery, jQuery UI, Handlebars, EmberJS, HTML5, CSS3, ReactJS, Angular, and NodeJS.
  • Apply design patterns (MVC, Singleton, Session Facade, DAO, Business Delegate) in multi‑tier distributed applications.
  • Use ORM concepts and tools such as Hibernate, ANT, Maven, and Gradle.
  • Develop and deploy applications on servers like Apache Tomcat, JBoss, and WebSphere; use database tools (TOAD, SQL Developer) and IDEs (Eclipse, NetBeans, IntelliJ, JDeveloper).
  • Work with XML technologies (XML, DTD, XSD, XSLT, XPath, XQuery, SAX, DOM, JDOM).
  • Manage Oracle, PL/SQL, DB2, PostgreSQL, and MySQL databases.
  • Develop SOAP and REST web services.
  • Apply core Java concepts (threads, collections, reflection, functional interfaces, streaming APIs) and performance tuning using JConsole, JProfiler, heap/thread dump analysis.
  • Provide management reporting and information dissemination.

Requirements

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship).
  • Residence within commuting distance to the five boroughs of New York City.
  • Ability to work on‑site in or near Brooklyn, NY.
  • Ability to provide at least two professional references, one within the last 24 months.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience with CURAM development, Angular, Struts, Spring, Hibernate, and related technologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field (preferred).
  • Experience with Atlassian JIRA, AWS, and DevOps tool suites such as Octopus and Jenkins.

Skills

  • CURAM development (CURAM V7) including Rules framework, evidence brokering, IEG, UIM, façade layer, and modeling.
  • Angular 8, AngularJS, TypeScript, React, and other component‑architecture experience.
  • Java/J2EE technologies and frameworks listed above.
  • Web services (SOAP, REST) and front‑end technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript frameworks).
  • Database expertise: Oracle, PL/SQL, DB2, PostgreSQL, MySQL.
  • Version‑control and build tools: Git, Maven, Gradle, Ant.
  • Agile software development practices.
  • Strong debugging, problem‑solving, and performance‑analysis skills.
