Cup Packer

About the role
The Cup Packer is responsible for ensuring proper labels and boxes are readily available for each print as well as properly monitoring, packing, and packaging multiple cup lines. Employee must follow all appropriate checks on product quality and product specification sheets and follow established procedures when defective product or deviations are found. The packer is required to be familiar with the operation of post cup forming equipment (auto-baggers) and maintain effective communication with other employees as necessary. The cup packer is required to maintain a clean and organized work area. Packer must assist other employees as necessary.
Responsibilities
- Upon arrival to workstation, communicate with previous shift packers to receive information regarding production order status, quality alerts, and any operational issues.
- Verify all packaging and finished goods match specification sheet with proper KD, print, stick & sleeve, count, etc., and document as required per procedures.
- Use a stamp number to indicate the boxes inspected by the packer.
- Monitor the operation of the auto-bagger and fill boxes with inspected cups.
- Clear jams on the machines and coordinate operational issues with the packaging operator, line maintainer, and/or lead.
- Communicate cup defects to the machine operator and QAT to remove product from production and adjust the machine.
- Complete a 200-500 cup test following direction from the cup operator to identify defects and record them on a log.
- Provide job knowledge transfer and training to new packers as needed.
- Ensure all upcoming prints have appropriate boxes, labels, spec sheets, blank carts, etc., prior to running production.
- Maintain and organize packaging materials throughout production runs and return unused material after runs.
- Label, stamp, and assemble boxes; repack damaged or mispacked cases.
- Maintain general housekeeping around the workstation and keep the area stocked with supplies.
- Complete written reports and documentation (e.g., logs, traceability, CoC, HACCP).
- Continuously monitor cups for visual and formed defects.
- Comply with all safety, quality, and sanitation standards, including Safe Quality Food responsibilities.
- Report injuries and potential safety hazards immediately.
Pay
$18.40 - $20.55 per hour
