Cultivation Manager
About the role
The Cultivation Manager leads all commercial canopy operations on the 2nd shift (Monday through Thursday, 1:00 PM to midnight) at our medical marijuana cultivation facility in Palatka, Florida, reporting to the Senior Director of Cultivation. This full‑time, exempt role drives end‑to‑end crop production across every stage of the plant life cycle — from cloning and propagation through vegetative growth, flowering, harvesting, drying, and curing — while mentoring the team and upholding strict compliance with Florida Office of Medical Marijuana Use (OMMU), Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS), and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) security and recordkeeping standards.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily grow room and canopy operations to ensure peak plant health, vigorous growth, and maximum crop efficiency
- Execute crop production schedules, harvest rotations, and canopy management strategies
- Manage fertigation, automated irrigation, nutrient recipe delivery, media moisture, and water chemistry (pH, EC/PPM)
- Control environmental conditions, including HVAC, light intensity and photoperiods, humidity, vapor pressure deficit (VPD), and CO₂ integration
- Execute and evaluate Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices, including biological controls and compliant crop protection protocols
- Direct, train, mentor, and schedule 2nd shift cultivation leads, technicians, and harvesting staff, including performance evaluations, cross‑training, and safety briefings
- Enforce standardized workflows, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and workplace safety practices while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability
- Maintain strict compliance with Florida medical marijuana statutes, administrative rules, and OMMU mandates by directing seed‑to‑sale inventory tracking in BioTrack and Odoo, including plant batch tracking, tag management, physical inventory audits, and audited waste and plant destruction records that meet DEA and OMMU requirements
- Uphold Cannabis Safety and Quality (CSQ) and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) through sanitation protocols and daily facility walks that assess microclimates, detect plant stress, and evaluate equipment, partnering with maintenance and engineering to resolve lighting, fertigation, or HVAC issues immediately
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Agronomy, Agricultural Science, Botany, or a closely related field, or equivalent commercial cultivation leadership experience
- 3 to 5 years of hands‑on experience managing large‑scale, commercial indoor or greenhouse cannabis or high‑density horticulture operations
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing multi‑tiered operational teams in a regulated agricultural setting
- Deep proficiency with environmental automation platforms (such as Argus, Priva, and TrolMaster) and advanced HVAC and climate infrastructure
- Mastery of commercial fertigation platforms, water treatment systems, and automated dosing equipment
- Expert command of state‑mandated seed‑to‑sale compliance tracking systems (BioTrack, Canix, Odoo, or similar ERP solutions)
- Advanced knowledge of plant physiology, nutrient deficiency diagnosis, crop steering techniques, and IPM strategy
- At least 21 years of age
- Ability to pass a Florida Level 2 Background Screening pursuant to Florida Statute Section 435.04 and maintain eligibility for Medical Marijuana Treatment Center (MMTC) employee registration under OMMU regulations
- Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs unassisted, and to stand, walk, bend, crouch, reach, and climb ladders or scaffolding during 10‑hour shifts, Monday through Thursday
- Comfort working in varying canopy environments, including intense light spectrums, dark green‑light conditions, high humidity, elevated temperatures, and sealed cleanroom settings
- Willingness to wear required PPE, including respirators, protective suits, gloves, and eye protection, for extended periods
