About the Role

The Cultivation Lead provides guidance and specialized skill support to Cultivation Specialists, ensuring the health and safety of cannabis crops from propagation to pre-harvest. This role involves on-site support across multiple gardens within a cultivation facility and may include cross-training to support other departments as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to cultivation specialists on best practices, techniques, and processes in the garden.
  • Support plant management, including fertilization, insect and disease monitoring, sanitation, and overall plant growth and health.
  • Assist in training new hires and ensuring adherence to departmental processes.
  • Perform tasks such as cloning, trimming, pruning, topping, and training plants as directed by the Cultivation Manager.
  • Monitor and maintain quality control measures in compliance with State and local laws.
  • Adhere to company policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment within the facility and production areas.
  • Report system discrepancies, plant diseases, deficiencies, insects, or mold to management for remediation.
  • Follow plant scheduling to project plant needs accurately.
  • Catalogue, track, and organize plants from clone-to-harvest using the track and trace system.
  • Work within the company’s continuous improvement system to increase productivity.
  • Clean cultivation equipment and tools, including light reflectors, containers, and ventilation equipment.
  • Document and update cultivation logs with nutrient and substance applications.
  • Support additional cultivation and harvest teams to meet facility production goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of plant structure and horticulture.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn about, operate, and maintain facility equipment safely.
  • Comfortable working with heights, soil, water, and tight spaces.
  • Ability to safely climb, squat, bend, twist, kneel, and stand for at least 8 hours per day, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older and able to register with the state’s cannabis commission as an agent.
  • Must comply with all laws, regulations, and policies associated with the cannabis industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a regulated production facility (e.g., food, beverage, CPG).

Physical and Mental Demands

  • Frequently required to remain stationary, move, position oneself, communicate, operate tools, and prepare objects or controls.
  • Must occasionally move packages weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to stand for 90% of the workday.
  • Comfortable working at heights, including ascending/descending ladders up to 25 feet to service lights, filters, trellis netting, and ceiling fans.
  • Comfortable working atop and traversing scaffolding when required.
  • Comfortable with varying environment temperatures and humidity.
  • Exposure to pollen, dust, dander, and other natural elements.
  • Requires close observation and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Environment

Work is performed in a warehouse environment with occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The noise level is usually moderate.
