Culinary Steward

About the role

Truth be Told, our British Gastropub, located inside The Study at the University of Chicago in the beautiful Hyde Park, is currently seeking a full-time Dishwasher with open availability including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Load, run and unload dish machine
• Keep the dish machine clean and report any functional or mechanical problems immediately
• Monitor dish machine water temperature to ensure sanitary wash cycle
• Wash and store all tableware and kitchenware
• Keep dish wash area clean and organized
• Maintain adequate levels of clean tableware for dining room and kitchen
• Bag and haul dish wash trash to dumpster at designed times
• Handle tableware carefully to prevent breakage and loss
• Maintain adequate levels of dish detergents and cleaning supplies
• Clean food preparation and production areas as required
• Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or Chef
• Aid and assist chefs in daily preparation of items, goods and inventory

Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Experience: None required
• Ability to communicate with both employees and guests
• Ability to work in a high-volume environment
• Ability to follow instructions and help with various tasks, as needed
• Works well in a team environment
• Flexibility to work any shift including evenings, weekends and holidays
• Proficiency in English required. A second language is desirable

• Ability to grasp, lift and or carry, or otherwise, move goods weighing a maximum of 60 lbs
