About the Role
The Culinary Service Cook is accountable to prepare, serve, and/or be responsible for the preparation of foods for residents, guests, and employees. With direction from the Culinary Services Director and in coordination with the interdisciplinary team, the cook increases residents’ acceptance and compliance, especially among those with therapeutic diet orders. The role promotes food service standards through cost, quality, and quantity controls, and provides meal service that meets the desires of the resident by allowing as much choice as possible while preserving the element of personal dignity.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve food for residents, guests, and employees
- Coordinate with the interdisciplinary team to increase residents’ acceptance and compliance with therapeutic diet orders
- Maintain food service standards through cost, quality, and quantity controls
- Provide meal service that allows resident choice and preserves personal dignity
Qualifications
- Desire and commitment to work with geriatric residents and understand their special needs
- Must qualify for employment after a criminal background study, per guidelines of the Minnesota Department of Human Services
