About the role
Provides nutrition services to patients utilizing standardized guidelines. This position interacts with clinical caregivers, patients, and patient's family members to explain the meal process and modify meal selections according to provider orders.
Responsibilities
- Takes patient meal selections and adjusts orders to meet provider diet requirements using system standards.
- Supports kitchen operations by assisting with final dish preparation, food prep, and other tasks as needed.
- Communicates effectively with kitchen, clinical teams, and room service staff to coordinate meal preparation and delivery.
- Relays orders from the call center to room service and informs staff when items or ingredients are unavailable.
- Maintains order flow to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and correct prioritization.
- Checks trays and completed dishes for accuracy, quality, and presentation before delivery.
- Delivers and presents meals to patients following standard service procedures.
- Performs food preparation tasks (e.g., salads, sandwiches, fruits, vegetables) according to standardized recipes and guidelines.
- Maintains clean, organized, and well-stocked prep and storage areas.
- Fulfills food safety, sanitation, and health standards.
- Affords basic customer service needs, including resolving routine concerns or complaints.
- Utilizes a computer to process transactions, takes orders using computer systems, and enters nutrition screening information.
- Assists with calorie counts or nutrition analysis as needed.
Requirements
- Food Handler Permit (required)
- One year of food service or cashier experience (preferred)
- Hospital food service or patient experience (preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to work with modified diets (preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service (preferred)
- Food service or healthcare experience (preferred)
- Coursework in Nutrition (preferred)
Qualifications
- Physical Requirements: Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs. Frequent interactions with customers that require employee to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. Remain standing for long periods of time to perform work. Tolerate extremes in temperature such as performing work at a grill or in a refrigerator and tolerate exposure to cleaning chemicals.

Pay
Pay Rate: Based on Experience ($18.40 - $23.92)
Schedule
Work Schedule: Full Time, 36 hours per week
Availability needed: Sunday-Saturday
Work Shift: 8 hour shifts between 5:00am-8:30pm
