Culinary Associate II/Fresco - Culinary/Nutrition

About the Role

Kettering Health Main Campus in Kettering is seeking a Culinary Associate II to perform basic food preparation and service tasks for retail areas, catering, ingredient room, and/or patient Room Service line. This role involves handling food in accordance with HACCP principles and applicable food codes, safely using and maintaining equipment, and performing other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Accurately manage position paperwork and processes, including order-taking, preparation, cash register operations, cash-ups, temperature monitoring forms, food temperatures, weighing and measuring ingredients, Room Service records, tray time paperwork, and catering event paperwork for charging.
• Follow correct hand hygiene procedures, including washing hands after handling money and before handling food, and using gloves when handling ready-to-eat foods.
• Utilize appropriate scripting and respond to patients, internal, and external customers using the HEAL principle. Describe products, know ingredients and allergens, and promote collaboration with team members.
• Effectively and safely use position equipment, performing applicable cleaning and sanitation procedures (e.g., coffee brewers, espresso machine, display equipment, grill, fryer, scales).
• Correctly date-mark food items, monitor temperature control, and follow First In First Out (FIFO) food storage procedures.
• Prepare, assemble, serve, cook, or bake food and beverages according to guidelines and recipes.
• Accurately handle cash and manage sales transactions through MyMicros software, maintaining a balance of ± $2.00 or less at the end of the shift. Handle credit card and gift card transactions per guidelines.

Requirements

• Able to walk and stand for long periods of time.
• Able to push and pull wheeled carts.
• Able to communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions.
• Able to tolerate frequent temperature changes and work around equipment that generates heat, steam, and cold.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Food service or customer service experience preferred.
