CTE: Teacher - Health Science 2026-2027
Job Overview
The Teacher CTE Health Science will plan and implement an instructional program and provide related educational services for students in assigned grade levels. The incumbent will manage student behavior, assess and evaluate student achievement, and modify/control instructional activities as required. Instructional delivery will provide students with real world experiences relevant to the industry today. Any teacher who will coach a UIL sport will also provide athletic services related to that athletic sport and the athletic program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assess student abilities as related to desired educational goals, objectives, and outcomes and provide instruction to grow student abilities
Plan appropriate instructional/learning strategies and activities including determination of appropriate level of materials
Implement an instructional program which provides appropriate learning experiences, considering different learning styles and a range of learning curves
Aid and participate in the management of student behavior in instructional settings, including school grounds, centers, and work sites, to ensure environment is conducive to the learning process; intervene to control and modify disruptive behavior, reporting to appropriate administrator
Utilize a variety of instructional materials and available multi-media and computer technology to enhance learning
Manage allotted learning time to maximize student achievement
Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development
Maintain safety in classrooms
Maintain accurate annual asset inventory reports
Maintain timely and accurate budget and accountability reports
Communicate regularly with students on instructional expectations and keep them informed of their progress
Ensure continuous communication with parents, both written and oral, to keep them informed of student(s) progress
Request assistance and work with resource personnel to ensure student growth
Collaborate with other professionals, including counselors and librarians, to carry out school-wide instructional or related activities
Support and/or participate in school-wide student activities, social events, and approved fund raising activities
Assign work and supervise instructional assistants, parent, and student volunteers, as needed
Qualification Requirements
Associate's degree in appropriate field including course work in the subject or program to which assigned upon hire
Bachelor's degree preferred
Valid Appropriate CTE Teaching Certification, issued by Texas Education Agency or has received statement of eligibility
Valid Healthcare Professional License or Certification required and must maintain
Current First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Certification must obtain within 1 year of hire date and maintain current certification
Required Compliance Training
Valid Driver's license with CDL Certification preferred if coaching UIL sport
Minimum of 2 years of wage earning work experience within the last 10 years
Qualifying field: Healthcare Coaching experience preferred if coaching a UIL sport
Demonstrated knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment of instructional specialty
Demonstrated knowledge of appropriate technology equipment and software programs
Proven ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
