About the Role
Assist in the development of Computer Assisted Learning techniques and curriculum, structuring classroom environments, and establishing systems for student credit acquisition, evaluation, and family inclusion.
Responsibilities
- Assist in structuring a classroom environment for learning and appropriate physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Assist in establishing well-defined steps for student credit acquisition and evaluation systems that meet district and state guidelines.
- Train students in career development skills, including job interviews, employee performance, leadership, entrepreneurship, work safety, business management, human relationships, and personality development.
- Evaluate and improve the grading structure of student jobs to enhance employer-student relationships.
- Develop programs and activities to improve student self-esteem and self-confidence.
- Visit work sites regularly to observe students, improve their work habits, and enhance professional behavior.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Reconnection Center specialist or designee.
Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job. Remote work is not an option for this campus-based position, as on-site attendance and duties are essential.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned.
- Must possess or obtain Vocational Teaching certification within two years of hire.
- Knowledge and skills in communicating with students, parents, professional staff, and employers.
- Ability to understand the unique vocational needs of students.
- Must have own transportation to various community worksites and businesses.
- Demonstrated flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
- Demonstrated willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession.
