About the role
The Radiologic (X-Ray) Technologist is responsible for producing diagnostic radiographic images for medical interpretation through the administration of ionizing radiation. This role involves independently performing or assisting licensed practitioners in the completion of diagnostic exams, preparing, administering, and documenting activities related to contrast administration and radiation exposure.
Responsibilities
- Administer ionizing radiation to obtain diagnostic exams as ordered by the physician, exercising individual thought, judgment, and discretion.
- Exercise competency in operating different types of X-ray equipment.
- Communicate effectively with patients and radiologists.
- Maintain high levels of quality in diagnostic imaging while adhering to company policies and procedures.
- Address concerns, solve problems, and manage conflicts using various communication channels.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding patient, family, and staff information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Utilize EMR systems, PACS, and DICOM systems for image sharing and interpretation.
- Train and orient new technologists and patient coordinators as needed.
- Participate in annual and ongoing education and site-specific competencies/in-services as directed by leadership.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or equivalent experience is required.
- An Associate's Degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
- AARRT (R) State license, if applicable, is required.
- CPR Certification, BLS from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC), is required.
- ACLS certification, if applicable, is required.
- A valid state driver’s license, as applicable, is required.
- The ability to work at multiple locations is required.
- Strong customer service skills are essential.
- Organizational, multi-tasking, and critical thinking skills are required.
- Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs is beneficial.
Preferred Requirements
- An Associate's Degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
- One year of X-ray experience is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- More than 50% of the time: Sit, stand, walk.
- Less than 50% of the time: Stoop, kneel, or crawl.
- Climb and balance.
- Carry and lift (ability to move non-ambulatory patients).
