Salary range: $42.92 - $66.52 hourly

About the Role

Under the direction of the Diagnostic Imaging (DI) Site manager, supervises the daily activities for the CT Department and serves as a resource person for problem solving. Primary duties in CT include orientation, cross training new technologists into CT, teaching new techniques, communication, and being responsible for quality control review on all DI CT units. Ensuring quality standards are met, maintaining equipment, and compliance with departmental policies and regulations. Operates CT equipment to produce diagnostic images of anatomy requested by the referring physician.

Responsibilities

• Performing Procedures:
  • Utilization of job-related information, technical skills, and procedures, including continuous quality improvement.
  • Perform exams in accordance with standard procedures and protocols.
  • Utilize appropriate patient safety screening/consent forms to ensure all safety precautions have been addressed prior to procedure.
  • Properly position patients with Bayhealth approved immobilization equipment, as necessary.
• Personnel / Staffing:
  • Supervise assigned team members during daily operations.
  • Provides adequate staffing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to handle the workload for the appropriate shift/time.
  • Maintains Call Schedule.
  • Post team members work schedules in the department one week prior to the scheduled work assignment and call schedules sent to the hospital switchboard before the first of every month.
  • Understand payroll practices to accurately approve and load work schedules into the payroll system for assigned team members to ensure correct payment per pay period.
  • Performs annual performance evaluations for assigned team members by the assigned due date for signature approvals.
  • Ensure Technologists have access to the policies and are knowledgeable of all policies and procedures pertinent to their job duties.
• Corrective Actions:
  • All formal corrective actions are handled with the Site manager.
  • Track attendance issues for employees and document variances per policies.
  • Monitor performance issues and counsel team members for unsatisfactory performance regarding Imaging protocols and Quality Assurance (QA) requirements for CT Exams.
• Quality:
  • Review monthly QAs from radiologists, PACS, and management.
  • Follow up with necessary education and escalate to DI Management if needed.
  • Initiate and make recommendations for new methods of service and service improvements.
  • Inform staff of any changes in CT exam protocols per radiologist’s recommendations.
  • Ensure all protocols across Campuses are updated on each CT scanner and in the online CT protocol file.
  • Ensure the results of the area equipment QA Logs and daily JC checks are accurately recorded daily, meeting any State or Federal guidelines.
• New Hires:
  • Involved with all CT applicants by setting up interviews and documenting recommendations for hire.
  • Ensure all onboarding education is completed before new team members are assigned to work with patients.
  • Responsible for the training/documentation and assignments during the training period for new hires not CT trained, including the Freestanding ED.
• Equipment:
  • Monitor all equipment to ensure systems are in working condition by reviewing all QC reports.
  • Schedule and coordinate monthly Preventative Maintenance (PMs) with the Vendor, block patient schedules, and inform the areas of the scheduled downtime for the CT unit.
  • Report problems to Clinical Engineering to ensure equipment is repaired and operational for scheduled and emergent cases.
  • Inform DI management of reported problems.
  • Maintain all units to achieve American College of Radiology (ACR) accreditation by meeting all requirements/guidelines.
  • Complete the ACR online application by uploading selected CT exams, necessary documents, and documentation required by the American College of Radiology.
• All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

Requirements

• Education: Certificate Program; Radiologic Technology
• Credential(s):
  • Basic Life Support
  • Registered Technologist, Radiography
  • CT Tech Competency Based Orientation - within 4 months (If RT (CT) is held, CT CBO is not required)
• Experience:
  • Required: 18 months experience in General Radiography and 18 months CT experience.
  • Preferred: Supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: Certificate Program; Radiologic Technology
• Credential(s): Registered Technologist, Computed Tomography (If RT (CT) is held, CT CBO is not required)
