Job Summary

Provide CT and Diagnostic X-ray imaging services to patients in accordance with physicians' orders. Ensure patient safety and provide high quality testing.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform quality images through protocols and positions to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patients' comfort and ability.
  • Demonstrate knowledge to perform cross-section imaging. Produce images in accordance with proper radiographic techniques.
  • Evaluate images for technical quality, ensuring proper identification is recorded.
  • Provide patient education on procedures according to age-specific needs. Facilitates patients' cooperation and alleviates anxiety by addressing concerns.
  • Verify appropriate procedure to be performed by checking physicians' orders and outpatient prescriptions. Contact physicians with discrepancies.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media. Ensure appropriate documentation prior to procedure.
  • Assist with procedures as needed.
  • Provide timely, responsive, expert services to customers in a positive friendly manner, to include patient, physicians, and other fellow employees.
  • Inform consumers and those accompanying them when delays exist and how they are being addressed. Promote patient-focused care throughout daily activities.
  • Maintain strict patient and staff confidentiality. Communicate to the patient when they will receive their results.
  • Maintain safe radiation levels at all times to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others. Complete quality assurance, quality control, and radiation safety activities as appropriate.
  • Identify patients' identification with patient and by checking patients' armbands. Ensure no repeat studies due to failure to check armband and/or improperly identified patient.
  • Observe patient during procedures and report any unusual occurrences or changes in patients' condition to appropriate personnel. Ascertain allergy status on patients.
  • Demonstrate compliance in IV access and follow departmental IV protocol. Respond to contrast reactions as outlined in the Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • Report any unusual occurrences or changes in patients' condition. Arrive at the start of the assigned shift ready to begin work; take lunch and breaks at appropriate times, and leave work at the end of the assigned shift.
  • Maintain neat, clean, and well-stocked room. Identify staff training issues and participate in Policy and procedures development as appropriate. Communicate concerns as appropriate to lead technologists and management.
  • Work as an effective team member with other colleagues to efficiently perform radiological procedures. Rotate shifts and assignments as required. Take stand-by call as assigned and respond to call back per Call Policy.
  • Adhere to Cooperative-wide Personal Protection Equipment, Universal Precautions, Related Medical Waste (RMW), Infection Control, Safety, and other OSHA Policies and Procedures. Ensure patient information is accurately entered into departmental computer system, as required by each site.
  • Select current account and complete patients for the appropriate procedure, as directed in Radiology Information System (RIS).

Experience

  • N/A

Education

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Graduated from an accredited radiologic technology program.

License, Certification, Registration

  • Certified Radiologic Technologist (Washington)
  • Basic Life Support

Information System

  • Ensure patient information is accurately entered into departmental computer system, as required by each site.
  • Select current account and complete patients for the appropriate procedure, as directed in Radiology Information System (RIS).

Additional Requirements

  • Communication, problem-solving, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) year experience in a hospital setting.
  • One (1) year of direct cross-sectional anatomy experience.
  • One (1) year of recent direct experience in diagnostic x-ray procedures.

Pay Range

$44.25 - $71.38 / hour
