CT Technologist, Nashoba Valley, 32 hr, Nights (Float)

Major Responsibilities

  • Properly performs all CT scan examinations appropriate to the age of the patient in inpatient and/or outpatient settings, consistent with departmental and professional standards and protocols.
  • Gathers pertinent clinical data and maintains accurate patient records.
  • Accurately completes all records, paperwork and billings and submits promptly.
  • Positions and transfers patients appropriately and assists physicians with interventional exams.
  • Promptly and properly completes exams, performs QC on images and appropriately sends exams to PACS for the physicians to review.
  • Affords assistance in maintaining an orderly inventory and in arranging the purchase of needed supplies.
  • Affords assistance with other job-related duties including urgent exam requests and scheduling.
  • Under the direction of a Radiologist or Emergency Room Physician, performs CT exams using contrast media according to department policy and procedures.
  • Will establish IV access for contrast injection according to department policy and procedure.
  • Travel between Marlborough and Nashoba/Groton as scheduled to provide operational, administrative, or departmental support.
  • The float requirements only apply to UMass Memorial Nashoba Valley's newly hired staff.

Position Qualifications

  • Licenses/Certifications/Educations: Required: Graduate of an accredited radiological program. Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or NMTCB certified in diagnostic CT. Licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Experience/Skills: Required: Demonstrated ability to provide quality patient care with minimal supervision in a fast-paced setting, collaborating with peers to product optimum results. Verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with patients and families.
  • Preferred: Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

  • Frequently: Sitting, Standing, Walking, Pushing, Pulling, Twisting, Precise Motor Skills required, Precise Hearing required, Precise Vision required; Lifting, Pushing, and Pulling – Less than 10 pounds to Over 100 pounds.
  • Often: Bending, Reaching, Grasping, Performing Repetitive Movements, High Level of Stress; Carrying – Less than 10 pounds to 50 pounds.
  • Never: Climbing, Balancing, Kneeling, Crawling, Working Outdoors, Working in Temperature Extremes, and Working at Heights; Carrying – 50 pounds to Over 100 pounds.
