Responsibilities
- Maintain technical skills needed to perform CT procedures.
- Use equipment to minimize hazards and maximize patient safety.
- Operate all equipment and manage digital images; prepare the room for use.
- Interpret information to identify the needs of adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and provide care as described in policies and procedures.
- Care for and maintain existing intravenous access; may inject specific medication under physician direction.
- Perform diagnostic procedures with minimal radiation exposure and maximum image quality.
- Demonstrate competency in all areas of computerized tomography, including positioning, procedure preparation, and technical factors associated with CT systems.
- Use all other equipment used in CT Scan effectively.
- Perform examinations according to protocol, radiologist preference, and ACR guidelines.
- Consent patients for metals and contrast and obtain necessary surgical history prior to exam.
- Document in information systems upon completion of procedures; document all STAT reads according to departmental policies.
- Maintain cleanliness and inventory of the lab, including equipment and facilities; follow proper disinfection techniques.
- Restock supplies as necessary; clean and stock carts or work area at the completion of each shift.
- Supply area with items necessary for daily schedule; advise supervisor of any needed items.
- Follow ACR QC requirements according to guidelines and internal policies.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited radiology technology program OR Associates or higher degree.
- Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility, and department/unit specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).
Qualifications
- Preferred: Two years CT Technologist experience; Associate Degree in Radiology Technology.
- Required: CMRT – Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist by the Texas Medical Board.
- Preferred: ARRT registry in CT modality.
