About the Role

The CT Technologist reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities

• Positions and immobilizes patient on examining table.
• Administers contrast media (oral and/or IV) in accordance with department policies, patient history, exam protocols, and physician orders; provides post-exam instructions.
• Enters data such as type of scan, slice thickness, scan time, and other technical details into computer.
• Communicates with patient before and during procedure; monitors safety and comfort.
• Views images of organs or tissue on video display screen to ensure quality of pictures; produces radiographs.
• Performs CT equipment quality assurance and maintains required logs.
• Performs clerical tasks such as receiving orders, scheduling patients, and recordkeeping.
• Maintains and cleans work area and equipment; replenishes supplies as needed.

Qualifications

• Required:
  • ARRT or IEMA Division of Nuclear Safety certification
  • BLS through American Heart Association
  • 2 to 3 years of undergraduate education or equivalent
• Preferred:
  • ARRT registry in CT or MRI
  • 1 year of experience
