Responsibilities

• Performs high-quality CT procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner while maintaining production and quality standards.
• Demonstrates knowledge of radiation dose reference levels and takes action if estimated dose exceeds set reference levels, including patient follow-up.
• Properly uses iSTAT point-of-care testing for obtaining creatinine levels.
• Utilizes AIDET to communicate with patients, ensuring correct exams are performed on the correct patients, and establishes rapport with patients and families.
• Prepares patients and procedure areas, positions patients, adjusts immobilization devices, and sets exposure factors.
• Protects patients and employees by adhering to safety, infection-control, drug, and radiation policies and protocols, including proper sterile techniques and hand hygiene.
• Maintains equipment and work areas to meet quality and cleanliness standards, collaborating with engineers and physicists for optimal equipment operation.
• Reports issues to management, assists in maintaining supplies inventory, and ensures safety by screening individuals according to approved policies.
• Obtains, verifies, and maintains relevant documentation, including requisitions, patient history, pregnancy status, and consent forms.
• Maintains medical imaging records in the appropriate system according to department policies and standards.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology or Nuclear Medicine.
• Less than 1 year of experience.
• BLS certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire/transfer.
• Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Computed Tomography (CT).
• Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiography (R) or Nuclear Medicine (N), or by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Tech (CNMT).
• Licensed by the State of Texas Medical Board as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT).

• Reviews patient satisfaction scores and develops action plans as needed.
• Maintains current knowledge, education, and skills for appropriate care across all age groups (newborns, pediatric, young adults, adults, and geriatrics).
• Serves as a preceptor by providing quality training to new team members and on new services and initiatives.
• Able to take call, if required.
