About the role
The CT Scan Technologist is responsible for the maintenance and quality of patient care on a continuing basis for the CT department and throughout the organization.
Responsibilities
- Confirm patient identification prior to procedure by verbal confirmation on outpatients and by the identification band on in-patients.
- Use schedule to maximum efficiency, maintain patient flow, and schedule. add-ons
- Produce high quality CT scans through proper positioning and technique.
- Proficiently use scanners to include sending to Nighthawk, 3DR, and VRAD.
- Follow all protocols and procedures to meet department standards.
- Work closely with the radiology nurse and the radiologist when performing biopsy and drainage procedures.
- Utilize assigned functions with the Radiology Information System to complete paperwork and to document contrast media reactions.
- Follow department, NRC, and State regulations for radiation safety to keep exposure "ALARA".
- Review patient’s chart for confirmation of physician's orders and follow written and/or verbal protocols and instructions.
- Communicate equipment malfunctions and low inventory levels to the appropriate lead.
- Utilize the hospital computer system to enter radiology and laboratory orders, charges, and/or credits.
- Educate patient, and family when necessary, regarding the exam, treatment, and outcome.
- Perform visual preventative safety inspections and report dangerous department or equipment conditions to the appropriate personnel.
- Perform ACR Guidelines to maintain ACR Accreditation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum Required Education: Graduate of an accredited program in radiologic technology.
- Preferred Education: N/A
- Experience: Previous experience as a registered technologist is required.
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Applicants must be ARRT (CT) registered within 18 months. Must be BLS certified.
