CT Paraprofessional -Hartford (2026-27)

The Paraprofessional is a full-time position responsible for creating behavior systems, protocols, and consequences in conjunction with the dean of school culture and the principal. They will develop a strong rapport with students and maintain behavior systems to support students struggling with behavior. The role also includes providing critical support to teachers and administrators during breakfast, lunch, and dismissal.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a behavior system supporting students temporarily removed from class due to poor behavior, following school leadership protocols (e.g., monitoring students in a quiet space, calling parents, documenting behavior, escorting students back to class).
• Create and maintain growth plans and tracking charts for individual students needing special attention, in partnership with the principal.
• Build rapport with students requiring behavioral support, including daily check-ins and parent updates via written notes.
• Provide administrative support during critical times of the day, such as breakfast, lunch, and dismissal.
• Attend all professional development sessions and staff meetings.
• Assist the dean of school culture with related tasks as required.
• Engage parents and families in their children’s academic success through regular communication about progress and challenges.
• Reflect on teaching successes and areas of growth, seek improvement, and receive feedback eagerly.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a rigorous, joyful, and safe environment.
• Hold all students accountable for success during transitions, meals, trips, and other activities.

Requirements

• High School Diploma required; +60 college credits preferred.
• Experience working with children or adolescents.
• Paraprofessional certification (preferred).

Pay

Paraprofessionals’ hourly rates start at $17.00. Salaries are set through a lens of equity, based on skills, education, and years of experience relevant to the role.
