CSB Credit Specialist II - ICRE
About the role
The Credit Specialist II – ICRE position is responsible for managing a commercial real estate loan portfolio of secured loans. The secured loans are collateralized by various property types (multi-family, industrial, office, retail, and self-storage). This Credit Specialist will review potential loan transactions to determine if the transaction meets TD's credit appetite while also underwriting loans for approval. This role will also review loan documents to ensure TD's loan documentation standards are being met, and the loan approval is being properly documented. This role will also build and maintain productive relationships with all business partners within TD Bank while ensuring annual reviews are completed on time and financial covenants are tested on a timely basis. Lastly, this individual will review construction inspection reports to track construction progress and make recommendations on construction loan advances.
Responsibilities
- Perform in depth credit analysis for highly diverse portfolios at the highest complexity, including large pieces of much bigger client portfolios that may include other institutions and input, with risk factors that create large variables to create decisions on portfolios
- Perform in depth credit analysis in partnership with Relationship Manager on potential and existing customers to determine alignment with TD Bank products/structure, TD Credit Risk Appetite and credit policies/underwriting guidelines
- Partner with the Relationship Manager on potential structure proposals that are in alignment with TD Bank products/structure, TD Credit Risk Appetite and credit policies/underwriting guidelines
- Attend site visits and prospect/customer calls as needed or as requested
- With support from the Credit Analyst, prepare credit applications for new and existing borrowers; Applications shall include new transactions, extensions, modifications, renewals and Annual Reviews
- Ensure applications provide a high quality of risk assessment, credit structure, due diligence, and credit presentation and adhere to AIRB methodology and address TD Banks profitability objectives
- Manage the timely approval, documentation preparation and negotiation, and closing of new and existing transactions
- Be knowledgeable of and operate within the applicable regulatory and compliance guidelines/policies & procedures (including but not limited to: AML, Privacy, Firewalls, Systems & Information Security, FCAC, etc.) and ensure that all staff complete required compliance attestations/training within required timelines
- Ensure the managed portfolio is comprehensively monitored and controlled, adhering to and administered within approved guidelines and in line with established operating policies and procedures
- Interpret and apply TD's risk management strategy (both credit and operational)
- Understand changing market conditions and remain knowledgeable of relevant industry issues
- Manage aspects of the customer relationship including, but not limited to, reviewing reports and delinquencies, sign off of covenant compliance forms and determining strategy if failures occur, completing monthly monitoring; overseeing Credit Analysts that will provide support in these responsibilities
Qualifications
- 4 year Undergraduate degree; advanced degree in financial discipline preferred, other advanced degree considered
- 7+ years' experience in related field
- Excellent credit underwriting and administration skills; considered subject matter expert in complex credit understanding
- Superior ability to identify and mitigate risk
- Ability to provide value-add structuring alternatives for highly complex credits

Pay
$132,000 - $198,000 USD. The base pay actually offered may vary based upon the candidate's skills and experience, job-related knowledge, geographic location, and other specific business and organizational needs.
Schedule
40 hours per week. Work Location: Vienna, Virginia, United States of America.
