Certified CS/SPD Technicians are responsible for cleaning and maintaining surgical and hospital tools. This position is a float role between Avon and Fairview hospitals.

Schedule

A caregiver in this role works days from 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. with an on-call rotation. During the first 90 days of new hire training, a caregiver in this role will work from 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, wrapping, and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments and distribution equipment.
• Perform case pull functions.
• Determine appropriate case carts to be built for specialty procedures.
• Build case carts ensuring adherence to procedures.
• Dispatch case carts to ensure availability for surgical/clinical procedures.
• Perform record keeping, ordering, stocking, and inventory control.
• Participate in in-service education.
• Build case carts using electronic preference cards and dispatch them to appropriate locations.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• A Sterile Processing certification (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CER)
• Proficient in using computerized instrument tracking systems
• Military experience, such as Hospital Corpsmen (HM), Machinery Repairman (MR), Aircraft Maintenance Technician (2A3X3), Biomedical Equipment Specialist (68A), Small Arms Repairer (91F), or similar, will be considered

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic computer skills
• Completion of a recognized training program with certification in central service/sterile processing
• Two to five years of experience in central service/sterile processing areas
• Experience in a medical or manufacturing field

Physical Requirements

• Lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing more than 75 pounds.

Personal Protective Equipment

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay

Pay Range Minimum hourly: $21.50
Maximum hourly: $29.50
