Crystal Lab Technician

As a Crystal Lab Technician, you will provide technical support in the production of germanium radiation detectors by growing detector-grade, single-crystal, high-purity Ge (HPGe) and maintaining related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Acid etch and load germanium charge and quartz crucible into crystal-growing furnace
• Operate furnace to produce high-purity germanium crystal suitable for detector manufacturing
• Clean and maintain crystal growth equipment and associated etch sink/clean room
• Prepare and document zone-refined ingots for use in the crystal growth process
• Maintain records and logbooks on crystals and crystal growth machines
• Assist in general mechanical and electrical maintenance of equipment, as required
• Assist in quality control, yield assurance, and inventory control

Requirements

• Associate degree
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work in a clean room environment

Pay

• Employee Type: Hourly
• Currency: USD
• Salary Range: $40,000 – $60,000
