About the role

The Cryogenic Process Specialist assists in the execution of drug substance freezing, drug substance shipments, QC sample shipments, and cell bank activities according to established work instructions and production records for the manufacture of therapeutic proteins in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs).

Responsibilities

  • Perform operational and warehousing activities in the Devens site Cryogenic facility, including freeze–thaw processing steps and packaging/shipping of bulk drug substances or cold chain samples in accordance with defined process parameters and business requirements.
  • Recognize deviations from accepted practice and lead/train other team members.
  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices and standard operating procedures, ensuring safe work practices and maintaining housekeeping and audit readiness.
  • Support and/or lead deviations and safety investigations, demonstrating familiarity with all aspects of Cryogenics Process operation.
  • Use and master process automation systems (e.g., Delta V, OSI/Pi Historian, MES Syncade) and supporting business systems (e.g., SAP, Infinity, Maximo).
  • Ensure less experienced personnel comply with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions, and complete training on time.
  • Revise and create process documents, support routine process investigations independently, and review batch records for each manufacturing lot in conjunction with Quality representatives.
  • Resolve issues and champion site-specific initiatives associated with work safety.
  • Engage in and support a culture of continual improvement through ownership of process, equipment, and safety enhancements.
  • Advise supervisors on improvements to optimize work processes.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred with 4+ years of experience.
  • Knowledge of science (e.g., engineering, biochemistry, or related discipline) is a plus.
  • A minimum of 4+ years of operations experience in a facility subject to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) regulations.
  • Practical knowledge of GMP regulations and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in common computer tools such as word processing, spreadsheets, and web-based applications.
  • Previous work experience where attention to detail and personal accountability were critical to success.

Pay

Devens - MA - US: $33.51 - $40.61 per hour (full-time employee basis). Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities may be available based on eligibility. The starting pay rate accounts for required skills, job location, work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final compensation will be determined based on demonstrated experience.

Schedule

BMS has an occupancy structure that determines where an employee is required to conduct their work. This role is site-essential, requiring 100% of shifts onsite at the assigned facility. Onsite presence is considered an essential job function and is critical to collaboration, innovation, productivity, and a positive company culture.
