Principal Cryogenics Engineer

About the role
RTX, the world’s largest aerospace and defense company, is seeking a Principal Cryogenics Systems Design Engineer to join the Effector-Optics (EO) Department. You will work with multi-discipline teams supporting military programs in the development and production phases of infrared sensor systems at our Tucson, AZ campus.
Responsibilities
- Design and analysis of high-pressure gas supply assemblies, Joule-Thompson coolers, Stirling coolers, Dewar design, Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) hermetic vessels, and sealing techniques.
- Troubleshoot EO cryogenic systems.
- Collaborate closely with components suppliers.
- Prepare technical justification analysis reports.
- Occasional travel to government and other facilities in support of program activities.
Requirements
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience in thermodynamic, heat transfer analysis, and structural analysis.
- Experience with Pro/Engineer and/or CREO.
- Experience with fluid, pneumatic, vacuum, or cryogenics systems design, analysis, or fabrication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with cryogenics system design.
- Working knowledge of Pro/Engineer and CREO.
- Mechanical aptitude to provide solutions to technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.

Pay
The salary range for this role is $107,500 – $204,500 USD. The range provided is a good-faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
