CROSSING GUARD - Within Tooele City (Seasonal)

Seasonal position at $20.11 per hour. Current vacancy at Overlake & Sterling Elementary crosswalk within Tooele City.

About the role

As a crossing guard, you play an important role in the lives of children by ensuring their safe passage at school crosswalks. You will often be the first adult children encounter during their school day and the last before they return home. This role offers flexibility in work hours, frequent breaks between shifts, and is ideal for those seeking extra income.

Responsibilities

• Monitor activities at school crosswalks, including keeping children under control and directing traffic.
• Use a hand-held stop sign to direct traffic to stop and guide children and other citizens safely across the street.
• Turn on flashing lights to notify drivers of school zone speed limits.
• Place cones and other safety markers on cross lanes as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Schedule

Shifts follow the elementary school schedule, typically consisting of 1 hour of work during morning and end-of-school shifts.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must pass a police background check (criminal history is not an automatic disqualification).
• Must possess and maintain a valid Utah State Driver License (or obtain prior to hire).
• Must have 12 months of driving experience (excluding learner’s permit time).
• Must have a driving record acceptable for Tooele City’s insurance and risk management standards.

This is a safety-sensitive position subject to pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing.
