Examples Of Duties, Responsibilities And Expectations
- Performs part-time paraprofessional duties safeguarding street crossings during hours when children are going to or coming from school
- Directs actions of children and traffic at street intersections to assure safe crossing
- Records and reports to police the license numbers of motor vehicles disregarding traffic signals
- Places caution signs at designated points before going on duty and removes signs at the end of shift
- Reports suspicious activity which may occur around school children such as loitering motor vehicles or individuals
- Reports injuries to children to school or parents
- Performs other related duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of: Vehicle Code of the State of California
- Ability To: Meet medical standards for the class and physical employment standards
- Satisfy required duties including but not limited to working irregular shifts of between several hours per day and as much as four hours per day
- Read, speak, write and understand the English language
- Adequately adhere to applicable terms and conditions of employment including but not limited to safety and health regulations, City rules and regulations, policies and procedures
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
- Candidates for this position will be put through a full background investigation including a Livescan fingerprint check and medical exam
- The selection process may include but is not limited to: application review and evaluation, written examination, performance test and interview
- All employment offers made by the City are contingent upon establishing proof of a prospective candidate's legal authorization to work in the United States and successfully passing all components of the pre-employment process, such as: reference check, background investigation, fingerprint criminal history check, post-offer drug test, post-offer psychological and post-offer medical examination, the cost of which will be borne by the City
- Candidates must fill out the employment application and supplemental questions completely and accurately
