About the role
The City of Sycamore is accepting applications for the position of Crossing Guard with the Sycamore Police Department.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe crossing of school children and other pedestrians at designated crosswalks
- Control traffic flow using hand signals, signs, and whistles
- Monitor and report any hazardous conditions or incidents
- Maintain visibility and awareness of surroundings to ensure pedestrian safety
- Follow all departmental policies and procedures
Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Must be able to stand for extended periods
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable and punctual
- Must pass a background check
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a crossing guard or in a related role is preferred but not required
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently
- Must be at least 18 years of age
