Crossing Guard

The Location is Prairie Hills Elementary School.

The Recruiting Start Date is 07/29/2026. The Estimated Start Date is 08/17/2026.

Responsibilities

• Directs the action of children and traffic at assigned crosswalks to ensure safe crossing of students.
• Directs visitors to the office.
• Escorts children across the street and parking lots.
• Issues verbal warnings, reports misconduct, and requests assistance from appropriate personnel as required.
• Maintains communications with the building principal and/or law enforcement agencies regarding incidents that could impact pedestrian safety.
• Maintains discipline and ensures student compliance with district and building rules, policies, and regulations.
• Supervises parking lots and school grounds.

Qualifications

• First Aid/CPR certification (American Heart Association / Red Cross / etc.)
• High school diploma or equivalent

Physical Demands

• Sits, stands, walks, stoops, kneels, and crouches/squats while performing duties.
• Uses eyes, hands, and finger coordination enabling the use of equipment and writing utensils.
• Has oral and auditory capacity enabling interaction interpersonally and/or through communication devices.
• Distinguishes depth and objects in a wide field of vision.
• Conducts activities involving walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling/bending, crouching/squatting, twisting, and reaching.

Cognitive Functions

• Analyzes, communicates, compares, compiles, computes, coordinates, copies, evaluates, instructs, negotiates, synthesizes, reasons, and uses interpersonal skills.
