About the Role

Ensure students get safely across designated intersections.

Qualifications

• GED or High School Diploma
• Valid Texas Driver’s license
• Dependable transportation
• Ability to communicate with children and the public
• Ability to read a map and follow directions

Experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Safely cross students at designated areas
• Instruct students on basic intersection-safety procedures
• Cross any pedestrian at elementary, intermediate, or high-school locations
• Remain constantly alert to all traffic—moving or stopped—and any circumstance that may affect student safety
• Report traffic violations (speeding, failure to stop, blocking crosswalks) by recording license-plate numbers and vehicle descriptions to supervisor and/or PISD Police Department
• Take charge in emergencies until proper authorities arrive
• Use and care for all issued equipment
• Maintain self-control at all times
