The Aerospace Corporation is the trusted partner to the nation’s space programs, solving the hardest problems and providing unmatched technical expertise. As the operator of a federally funded research and development center (FFRDC), we deliver innovative solutions spanning satellite, launch, ground, and cyber systems for defense, civil, and commercial customers. The Enterprise Effects Division (EED) drives integration of Aerospace’s strategic capabilities across the national space enterprise, leveraging a broad array of engineering disciplines against dynamic programs, customers, and national challenges. The Cross-Mission Effectiveness Department (CMED) leads integration and application of modeling and simulation capabilities to support end-to-end effects chain analysis and space-enabled campaign modeling.

About the role

As a member of CMED, you will provide technical capabilities to support modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS&A) of space, air, and ground-based systems of systems. Focus areas include agent-based modeling, red vs blue simulations, military utility and capability drawdown, killchain effectiveness, enterprise architecture resiliency, and command and control (C2) evaluation. You will act as an integration leader, coordinating across multiple Aerospace program offices to connect customer requirements with capabilities and identify new partnership opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Act as an integration leader and spokesperson for the Cross-Mission Effectiveness Department, coordinating across multiple Aerospace program offices to connect customer requirements with Aerospace capabilities and identify opportunities for new partnerships.
  • Work closely with cross-mission killchain analysis-focused program offices and customers to translate program needs into modeling, simulation, and analysis tasks.
  • Independently coordinate and lead the architecture and development of an in-house killchain modeling tool to ensure timely, accurate, and consistent team deliveries.
  • Use and contribute to the development of in-house, commercial, and government-off-the-shelf engineering analysis tools and products.
  • Collaborate across technical organizations to achieve optimal solutions and efficiencies.
  • Develop and present briefings and reports for program offices and customers.
  • Mentor junior staff members on technical and professional development subjects and foster a learning environment.
  • Hold self and team accountable for results and remove barriers to achieving objectives.
  • Travel occasionally as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (aerospace, astronautical, mechanical, or software), computer science, physics, operations research, or a closely related technical field from an accredited school.
  • 6 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience, including multi-disciplinary systems engineering and/or program management environments.
  • Experience with OPIR and RADAR system detection and tracking.
  • Demonstrated strength in architecture and sensor-level simulations and evaluation.
  • Experience executing end-to-end mission performance assessments with emphasis in modeling remote sensing systems, tracking, and estimation.
  • Technical understanding of space operations, red vs blue simulations, military utility and capability drawdown, killchain effectiveness, enterprise architecture resiliency, and/or command and control (C2).
  • Advanced experience with Python and C++.
  • Familiarity with Digital Engineering, including modern software development methodologies, tools, and processes, distributed frameworks, API development, and cloud computing.
  • Experience leading a team to accomplish an objective.
  • Demonstrated high level of creativeness, initiative, and self-motivation.
  • Ability to work on dynamic assignments and adapt to changing customer expectations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Current Top Secret Clearance.

Qualifications

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • An advanced degree in applicable STEM areas or other relevant disciplines.
  • Proficiency with the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM).
  • Knowledge of Intelligence Community, U.S. Department of Defense, and Department of the Air Force business practices and programs.
  • Current Top Secret/SCI Clearance with polygraph, and special programs access.
  • Widely recognized internally and externally by peers, management, program offices, customers, and contractors for delivering high-impact solutions to complex, cross-organizational problems.
